The Dhow House
A Friendly, homey and converted from an old house built in the seventies, designer Ken haji has given The Dhow house the Mawimbi Designs twist creating a truly magnificent and unique space different to any other Restaurant, Bar or Hotel in Mombasa. The magnificent gardens and lawn with mature trees also help set the mood ofthe overall experience at the Dhow House. Apart from all this The Dhow House can be very vibrant and lively with something to look forward to almost every evening such as live music, Karaoke, Oysters and Champagne and other special offers. Our friendly fun and reputation, attention to detail, ambience and creative design have become some of our best known trademarks.

Cottages
Ensuite Cottage : With open plan design and fully furnished with original Dhow wood furniture and decor, this two bedroom self-catering house has a very natural, relaxing and coastal feel. The kitchen is newly finished and well equipped with granite work tops. The veranda leads out onto a lush and tropical private garden of your own. You will really enjoy the comfort and calm of this private sanctuary. Amenities and services are included

Luxury Cottage : This very cosy and spacious self-catering one bedroom cottage is situated amongst the garden palms and in close proximity to the pool, giving it a distinct tropical ocean feel. With newly fitted granite work tops and kitchen equipment it allows you to enjoy practicing your culinary skills and then feasting on the unique coconut kitchen bar counter. The whole cottage is fully furnished with coconut wood furniture Dhow House style including the unique double bed with its en-suite bathroom. It’s a great place chill and enjoy being at the coast. 

Rooms

Luxury Room : Sleeping in the comfort of our super king size dhow wood bed surrounded by its pleasantly rustic interior brings the Swahili vibe to your stay. With separate dressing room and en-suite bathroom, lots of breeze and light we are certain you will feel at home in the tranquillity of this room.

Standard Room: With two single hardwood beds this upstairs room offers a comfortable, pleasant and cosy stay. The rustic tone of the ceiling and additional dhow wood furnishings gives it an authentic and coasty vibe.

Family Room : A super king size double bed sets the tone of this breezy, light and upstairs room. Also equipped with a dhow woodwork desk, mirror and ample cupboard space you can enjoy the peace of being away from home.

Exotic Room: A very secluded and private room on its own in the luscious gardens of the Dhow house. Furnished with a super king size dhow wood bed, work desk and coastal interior makes it either a perfect place to hide away or a great work space to make your day productive.

Bar & Restaurant
Enjoy the ambience of inventive rustic design in a natural, calm and well balanced naturally beautiful setting. Our simple menu inspires you to choose from a variety of Swahili, Indian or European Home cooking cuisine including a good selection of vegetarian dishes. We cater for most palates serving poultry, pork and or Beef. Many a guest have commented that we serve the best tasting steak in town. Our selection of Seafood is fresh from the Indian Ocean and includes Red Snapper, Jumbo prawns, Lobster, Crab, Calamari and Oysters.

Gardens, Tree House and Pool
The gardens definitely have a wow effect and give you the opportunity to switch-off and take in the coastal vibe or have a romantic meal, whether it be under the stars at night or in the shade of the tropical trees. If you’re feeling more social, quench your thirst at the Log Bar with its very multicultural crowd of patrons that often gathers at this unique watering hole. Within our spacious gardens we have also have cool swimming pool surrounded by palms for those who want to cool off or relieve a long days stress. For the Kids or parents? We have a large imaginative tree house with lots of features and a zip line for children to play outdoors while Mum and Dad can relax and enjoy a peaceful time out if they wish
